Two emerging businesses that got their starts with support from the city’s incubator, Prototype Prime, are finalists in the 2018 Amazing Entrepreneur Contest. Partnership Gwinnett, in collaboration with The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC), sponsors the annual contest.

FanBoard Inc, and Stooge Inc. were among eight finalists named. FanBoard creates and distributes branded augmented reality games through the apps of sports clubs, events and venues. Stooge has developed an app to support event organizers.

“We are very pleased to learn that two Peachtree Corners-based businesses have been chosen for this prestigious contest,” said Mayor Mike Mason. “They brought their fledging concepts to Prototype Prime and both FanBoard and Stooge have grown and developed their visions into productive businesses. The support they received at Prototype Prime has proven to be invaluable in their early success.”

Fanboard and Stooge are among five finalists in the Established Business Category, three businesses have been named as finalists in the Pre-Venture Category.

This year’s Established Business Grand Prize winner will receive a number of prizes including a $4,000 cash award, a scholarship to the Small Business Development Center Grow Smart program, market research assistance from Partnership Gwinnett’s research department and numerous local and regional marketing opportunities.

“The SBDC’s GrowSmart program aims to equip businesses with the tools and strategies needed to maximize their goals,” said Antonio Barrios, Director of the UGA SBDC. “Our collaboration with Partnership Gwinnett allows entrepreneurs to get the support they need to build a foundation that sustains their growth in our rapidly changing market.”

“The Amazing Entrepreneur Contest seeks to encourage, and support established and pre-venture businesses in Gwinnett,” said Partnership Gwinnett’s Director of Entrepreneurship Li Wong. “In the eight years of having this program, we’ve seen small businesses emerge in the competition and go on to lead in Gwinnett’s competitive marketplace; I am sure this year will be no different.”

Contest finalists will move on to a final pitch about their business before the winners are announced during the Amazing Entrepreneur Contest Demo Day on September 13.
