The Simpsonwood Steering Committee is expected to discuss a recently completed online survey hosted on Survey Monkey which sought input on the types of amenities desired by the community.
The Simpsonwood Steering Committee will meet Thursday, June 30, 6:30 p.m. at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church, 4500 Jones Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners. Courtesy of Gwinnett Parks and Recreation, the steering committee will hold this public meeting with preliminary master plan graphics.
The track of land, which fronts the Chattahoochee River, had been deeded as a gift to the United Methodist Church by Ms. Ludie Simpson in the early 1970s. The church had built a conference and retreat center on a portion of the property but in the last few years decided to look into selling the property when the conference center began to lose money.
Gwinnett County purchased Simpsonwood, with the help of the City of Peachtree Corners with plans to preserve the 223-acre property as an open space park. The property is predominantly forested with hardwood and evergreen trees with about 2,140 linear feet of river frontage along the Chattahoochee River.
Simpsonwood Park is located at 4511 Jones Bridge Road, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. For additional information on the plans for the park, please call 770-822-8855.
