Two long-time residents qualified for the vacant City Council Post 2 seat. The qualifying period began on Monday and ended at noon today.
The two men who qualified are: Eric Christ, 48, a business executive (pictured) who has lived in Post 2 for the past 17 years and has served on the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals since the city was founded in 2012. And Stephen Peet, age 60, a Senior Operations Manager and Post 2 resident for the past 27 years.
A Special Municipal Election will be held on May 24 at Peachtree Corners City Hall from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Residents who have not registered in the city’s municipal election may register on or before 5 p.m., April 26, 2016. Registration forms are available in the office of the City Clerk.
The qualifying dates for the Post 2 seat were Monday, March, 28 – Tuesday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The qualifying fee for the council seat was $240.00 which is 3 percent of the total gross council member salary. Qualifying was conducted in the City Clerk’s office at Peachtree Corners City Hall.
The Post 2 vacancy was created when Jay Lowe resigned earlier this month to run for a State Representative seat.
