Stephen Peet, City Council Post 2 Candidate

Stephen Peet has served the community of Peachtree Corners for almost 30 years. During that time, he has worked as a community leader in the school system, on homeowners’ boards, and through scouting and youth sports. Professionally, Stephen has over 35 years of experience in engineering, facilities, and operations management.
Stephen is currently a Senior Operations Manager for AT&T. His responsibilities include the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of data centers, as well as working with standards, policies, and contracts on a regular basis. Stephen is responsible for a $10 million annual operations and maintenance budget and manages $5-10 million in capital construction contracts each year. Prior to AT&T, he worked at Nordson Corporation as a product design engineer providing engineering solutions, including a patent that led to savings of $200,000 per year. Previously, Stephen was a facilities manager at Hayes Microcomputer Products with responsibilities for the company’s world headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Technology Park and offices in San Francisco and London.
Stephen earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. There he met his wife, Dianna, and they have been married 31 years. Their four children grew up in Peachtree Corners, attending Simpson ES, Pinckneyville MS, and Norcross HS. All of them went on to attend Georgia Tech and two have now graduated.
Throughout his years of volunteer experience, Stephen has represented the city’s residents in many capacities. In the schools, he has served on a number of Local School Advisory Committees and has been a parent and community member of the Gwinnett County Public Schools GEMS AKS/Curriculum committee for almost 20 years. He has also volunteered in the classroom and with the Norcross HS Band Boosters and robotics team. Stephen is a long time scout leader, serving as the Pack 575 Cubmaster for seven years as well as many other leadership positions for adult and youth leadership training programs. He has served for several years on the Peachtree Station Homeowners’ Board and, for added fun, he was the neighborhood swim team DJ and announcer. When it comes to sports, Stephen’s experience includes 12 years of coaching youth roller hockey. Stephen has met many fantastic people in this community through volunteering!Stephen’s involvement in family, neighborhood, school, scouts, and church activities have supplemented his leadership and management skills to prepare him for the exciting challenges of seeking citizen input and serving the residents of Peachtree Corners on the City Council. Due to his engineering and operations management background, Stephen brings an analytical and data-driven approach to city policy for responsible growth to keep Peachtree Corners “innovative and remarkable.”
