The Georgia Department of Public Health has issued a new rule that affects preteens. Beginning in 2014, all students born on or after January 1, 2002, who are entering or transferring into seventh grade, and any new entrant into grades 8 through 12 need proof of an adolescent pertussis (whooping cough) booster vaccination and an adolescent meningococcal vaccination.

This new rule affects public, private, community, charter, juvenile court, and other alternative schools. Home school students are excluded. For more information about teen and preteen vaccinations, click here.
